The Activated Massachusetts African Community (AMAC) is a grassroots organization with the mission to educate, support, and advocate for the well-being of the African community living in Massachusetts. We are a group of African activists, community leaders, health workers, and entrepreneurs dedicated to our community. We envision a thriving community united to celebrate culture and promote civic engagement to advance the lives of Africans in the Commonwealth. COVID-19 has hit hard, leaving many families scrambling to meet the changing demands on them, including access to chrome notebooks/laptops for their children who now have to attend school online. Needless to say, many are falling behind because they just cannot afford to buy the equipment needed to study online. To ease the problem, AMAC is donating chrome notebooks to students in the African communities to help them access their schools’ virtual classes, assignments, and other activities. The application asks questions to help AMAC assess the individual student’s (applicant’s) level of need for a chrome notebook. The deadline to apply is the end of day July 10, 2020.
