On Saturday, October 4, 2025, AMAC hosted a Know Your Rights (KYR) Leadership Training in partnership with the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy (MIRA) Coalition. The training convened over a dozen African immigrant community leaders representing diverse countries of origin across the Commonwealth. Participants completed an intensive Know Your Rights training and a train-the-trainer workshop focused on immigration rights, civic protections, and community education strategies. As part of the project, participants were supported to lead two Know Your Rights teaching sessions within their own communities, helping to extend access to accurate, culturally responsive information through trusted messengers. This model reflects AMAC’s commitment to building community leadership and increasing grassroots rights awareness across African immigrant communities in Massachusetts.

The REAL ID deadline has passed. Are you ready?

As of May 7, 2025, you now need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or another acceptable form of identification to fly within the United States.

If you haven’t yet upgraded to a REAL ID or have questions about your documents, this community forum is your chance to get clarity and support.

Activated Massachusetts African Community (AMAC) partnered with Whittier Street Health Center (WSHC) to provide free COVID-19 testing for the African Community on the 21st of August.

We tested over 100 individuals, distributed PPE’s and gave out gift cards. Thanks to all the staffs, supporters and volunteers.
We would like to thank Refugee & Immigrant Assistance Center (RIAC) for help with the venue.

Thanks to The Boston Foundation and Mass Redistribution Fund (MRF) for funding this Initiative.

The event is taking place on Friday, August 21st at 253 Roxbury Street, Boston MA 02119.

This event will include the distribution of free PPE (masks and hand sanitizers) and $50 gift cards for each household.
Testing is free, no ID required and all immigration statuses are welcomed.

This is for the African immigrant community, so please come, bring your family and others!

On May 25th, 2020 AMAC delivered more than 750 cloth masks and 1000 hand sanitizers to 21 community groups, mostly churches and mosques in Waltham, Boston, Revere, Lowell, Chicopee, Worcester, Springfield, and Longmeadow.

All cloth masks were made by members of the community. Thank you for your contribution!
